Tag, I'm it!

Jennifer over at Snapshot tagged me in the following meme. Because she's my managing editor at 5 Minutes for Books and I want her to like me, I figured I'd better play along. (Just kidding. She'd like me even if I didn't play - she said so.)

Here are the rules:

1. Write about 5 specific ways blogging has affected you, either positively or negatively.
2. link back to the person who tagged you
3. link back to this parent post
4. tag a few friends or five, or none at all
5. post these rules— or just have fun breaking them

So, from 1 to 5 in no particular order:

1. Blogging has affected my sleeping patterns. I think that before blogging I was content to go to sleep without worrying that I'd miss anything (like Semicolon's Saturday Reviews -gasp!) if I went to bed too soon. I also don't remember waking up wondering if anyone had left me any new comments during the night. The helpful thing about my time zone is that I go to bed after all of you and wake up after you too. So be nice and leave me a comment. You'll be a great start to my new day!

2. I used to get more housework done. Or, perhaps, I just had other excuses to continually avoid it.

3. It has positively encouraged me to read more books. On the flip side, it has also made me feel more anxious when I haven't been able to get to a book to finish it within a reasonable period of time (i.e., two days tops). Serious anxiousness starts to take over.

4. Blogging has introduced me to amazing people I would never have known otherwise. Specifically, it introduced me to Jennifer who in turn got me hooked up with 5 Minutes for Books and that has been revolutionary in the way that I read, write and think about books. It's been an amazing education in a very short period of time and I'm loving every minute of it! I've also made some new friends through that venture and I'm enjoying getting to know people.

5. It keeps me in touch with old friends, specifically Calon Lan who I grew up with and who also reads voraciously (although vastly different books than me!). And Sarah at Library Hospital?! We ran in the same circles for years and have dozens of mutual friends. Suddenly we have a blossoming relationship of our very own (that I am totally enjoying) blossoming over books. It's fun because we're now in the same stage of life (married with 1 kid each) and this is a fun outlet.

On the whole I'm in love with blogging. But as with anything, too much can be, well, too much. I should probably try to manage my blogging time better. I'm just having too much fun to stop and think about that now . . .

I'm kind of excited about this. I never get tagged for anything. I'm not sure I know anyone else to tag, though, so mine will just be incoming instead of outgoing. (Hah! That reminds me of Elizabethtown!)

Oh good -- now I can finally like you. . . Ha.

I loved reading this. The waking up in the middle of the night wondering if you got comments cracked me up. I also remember when I lived on the West coast I was a part of an email group, and I loved getting all these emails when I got up, since everyone else had been awake for hours.

Thanks for the tag...I'll be doing it later this week, probably.

You won a copy of After the Fire! I just need your full name and mailing address to pass on to the publishers. Email me at taleofakansasgirl (at) hotmail (dot) com. Congrats!

Oh, the sleep thing! Genius. I hadn't even thought about that one, but it's true. As is the housework dilemma. But blogging is just SO much more fun... : )

I just got home last night from 5 days in Vegas for Photoshop World (woo hoo!), but I'll do this. Could be scary to force myself to analyze it. ;-)
