Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! It's already time to tell you what's on my nightstand again. WHERE DOES THE TIME GO ALREADY!?!?!?!?! I AM pleased to say that I did get to everything that was on my nightstand last month. I didn't like Three Cups of Tea enough to finish it, but I did get through everything else. Which brings us to the present month.
The most glaringly obvious thing which was menacingly staring at me from "my nightstand" was Bleak House which was part of my Fall Reading Challenge. I finally gave up.
I'm also purposing to complete reading The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment, by Tim Challies.
Some additional "personal" reads which are on the stand:1. Igraine the Brave, by Cornelia Funke (whom I love);
2. My Side of the Mountain, by Jean Craighead George; and
3. Radical Womanhood, by Carolyn McCulley.
Some reading I intend to get around to for up-and-coming 5 Minutes for Books reviews are:1. The Tale of Emily Windsnap;
2. Christmas at Fairacre; and
3. Knowing Right from Wrong: A Christian Guide to Conscience.
I think I'm looking forward to everything this month! Of course, I have a few more books I'll throw in the loop but those are all the books in the top of the current stack (which is quite large).

Oh! Fairacre and Miss Read! Have you others by her? I absolutely LOVE those books!! Not many of my friends have read them, but they don't know what they are missing--such cozy little books!

'Igraine the Brave' looks like one I'd like to investigate!
Yours is the first lukewarm mention of '3 Cups of Tea' I've seen. I've been kind of afraid to read it, because the rave reviews have built up impossible expectations.
Hi, I wanted to say my book club read Three Cups of Tea and everyone thought it was worthy because of his mission, but the reading was DRY. We agreed that there are just so many ways to describe hauling building materials. So, you are not alone. I finished but it was tough! Debbie
I really have to check out Funke's books - they look interesting. Thanks for the heads up on Three Cups of Tea - not for me.

My son read My Side of the Mountain last year for school and he really enjoyed it. I know how it feels when you just can't finish a book, sorry you've encountered so many lately.

I think it is truly a discerning reader who can choose to put something aside. I've just learned to do that, so that's great!
I'm working on Bleak House, although I'm doing audio. It's taking me a long time. One of the audio files was corrupted, and it took audible a while to fix it. Then it took me longer to get back into it. Finally, now over halfway through, I'm figuring out who the characters are. I let myself relax and enjoy being in Dickens' world rather than try to figure out all the relationships and associations.
