This week's Booking Through Thursday asks the following question:
Some people read one book at a time. Some people have a number of them on the go at any given time, perhaps a reading in bed book, a breakfast table book, a bathroom book, and so on, which leads me to…
1. Are you currently reading more than one book?
2. If so, how many books are you currently reading?
3. Is this normal for you?
4. Where do you keep your current reads?
I used to read 4-5 books at a time but once I realized that I could plough through books faster if I only focused on one book at a time, I stopped reading so many at once. Occasionally I'll still dig in to 2-3 at a time. It is entirely dependent on mood and length of book.
For example, if I'm reading something like Wives & Daughters I may take pauses between chapters to visit something else. However, inevitably I get to the point where I just want to GET THE BOOK OVER WITH and so everything falls by the wayside so that I concentrate fully on completing the larger story.
Right now I'm currently in between books, kinda wandering listlessly. I wanted to read something for comfort sake so I picked up my old copy of Hinds' Feet On High Places and that's the one and only thing I'm reading at the present. However, I just received the book The Bookends of the Christian Life and that's kinda tempting. So who knows! I may be into two books by the end of today, I don't know!
As for where I keep my books? I laugh.
Everywhere.

I read 3. I finish them all in a reasonable manner. Sometimes the break gives freshness to the next read.

I try to read one at a time, but it gets pushed to 2 in certain cases.

I am familiar with that 'GET THE BOOK OVER WITH' feeling.
I usually have one fiction & one non-fiction going at the same time. If I do more than that, I won't finish.
I agree - I can read faster when focusing on one at a time. I don't get alot of reading time each day, so I'm monogamous to one book. I will read a non-fiction book along with a fiction, but I don't read it every day.
While I can (and do) have textbooks and several daily devotional books going at once, I can usually only handle one fiction and/or non-fiction for-pleasure book at a time. And I can completely relate to the "hurry-up-and-get-this-book-finished" feeling!
I'm usually reading two or three at a time. The more compelling the reading, the fewer at a time. I too am excited about "Bookends"!
