Where did the month go? I gave myself all this time to read through at least TWO of the books but alas, I did not get to any! (The only thing I DID read for myself was The C.S. Lewis Chronicles to learn more about the man behind Narnia.)
What I DID do instead was spend time in Narnia with my 2 1/2 year old.
We looked at the Narnia Chronology book full of flaps and things to pull which made delving into Narnia an interactive experience.
We read two stories from the World of Narnia collection - Lucy Steps into the Wardrobe and Edmund and the White Witch. Bookworm1 is definitely more familiar with the characters and places in the Narnia series now. (I love it!) Of course, mostly we focused on The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (which is my personal favorite) but we did dabble into a little Prince Caspian as well, meeting Reepicheep the mouse.
At 2 1/2 I thought he did quite well. He really likes Aslan. A lot. (I'm thrilled!) Lucy runs a close second. I'm not sure exactly why, except perhaps that she is the closest in age and she's very friendly? We've used a lot of YouTube to learn more Narnia and this is his hands down favorite clip (from Prince Caspian):
As our last little learning activity, yesterday we made Turkish Delight! Oh yes. Consisting primarily of sugar and cornstartch, I can't say I'm a huge fan. But I wanted to say that we made it. Bookworm1 thought it was cool and it familiarized him with another aspect of Narnia. You know -- The Candy Aspect. Want a piece? We're happy to share!
Here is a picture of "us" getting started on making it:
The picture you see here is what it is SUPPOSED to look like. Mine doesn't look like this. Regardless, I followed the recipe and I have to believe it tastes the same. I just did not care for it a bit! That said, I'm happy to have given it a shot!)
Also, based on this post at Hope is in the Word, I pulled out the full, unabridged version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and asked my son if he would like to play while mommy read him a book. He agreed and we got two chapters into the story without complaint and with lots of interest. Me thinks we'll be reading more of the actual series here very soon! (Mommy can hardly wait! THANKS, Amy, for the thoughts and encouragement to this end!)
Lastly, we've held a few Narnia related contest here at Reading to Know. The winners are as follows:
Tumnus toy - Page Turner

Just popping in to say that I WILL finish my reviews and link up later. But we're moving stuff into the new house today, so it's a tad bit busy. (I finished The Last Battle over lunch a little while ago -- I'm completing this challenge by the skin of my teeth! :)
Oh, Carrie, I'm so glad you started Wardrobe with Bookworm1!!!! I hope you have great success with it. It sounds like you're already off to a great start!
We have almost "read" the books that was on our challenge.
We actually utilized Focus on the Family Theater Production audiobooks for Magician's Nephew and The Horse and His Boy. We have, in the past, read the Lion,The Witch and The Wardrobe so we have chosen to watch the movie which is on our plans for next week.
We are going to continue making our way through the series.
Thanks for the challenge!
I left a link to my posts on Mr.Linky
Ooooohhhhhh! I won Mr Tumnus! I'll e-mail you my address.
Did you get the book by Michael Wittmer, by the way? I'm still working on Face to Face and am enjoying it so far. Thanks for swapping!
This turned out to be a much more hectic month than I anticipated, but I did read the first two books and am working on the third. I will come back and link up my reviews later.
Love your challenges! Are you doing L.M. Montgomery again in January?
I just found out about this challenge tonight. :) We've been listening to the entire series with the Focus on the Family audio version and have loved it! We're also reading through the series together with our kids.
Jolanth - just saw your comment, Isn't the FOF audio great! We are loving these Narnia audiobooks.
