Friday Five Favs

Thanks, as always, to Suzanne at Living to Tell the Story for hosting!

Five Remarkable Things About this Week:

1. We survived it. (That's always something to be thankful for, right?) At times it felt long, but we made it through. And now it's Friday!

2. We had many days of sunny, beautiful weather (and very short cloud bursts) which meant we made it out in the yard more. We played hide-and-seek in between the trees and sat in chairs and just enjoyed the weather. We attempted to introduce the concept of soccer but that failed kinda miserably (i.e., one of us - not naming names, of course - erupted into screams over the thought that we weren't supposed to actually touch the ball with our hands but were supposed to kick it with our feet.) We played catch instead. With a soccer ball. But hey! We played it outside which was the point.

3. We had a date night out! Jonathan took me to see the new Alice in Wonderland movie and then we went out to dinner afterward. It's always fun to have a night out. You know - a dinner where you only have to worry about feeding yourself. Amazing, that!

4. Last weekend we had some friends come in from out-of-town to spend a few days with us and Bookworm1 made a new friend.

Our friends' little girl can READ which was a hugely fascinating deal to Bookworm1. He adored her and was happy to follow her around and do anything that she suggested might be fun. Adoration is hardly the word to use but it comes as close as I think I can possibly get. When he was informed that it was time for his friends to go home again he replied, "Oh. That's sad." His chin fell into his palm and he looked glum. Yes, son, all good things must come to an end.

5. We had dinner with some friends this week and she made a rather remarkable angel food cake. I can't say that I'm a huge fan of angel food cake as a general rule, typically finding it to be dry and sponge-like. However, hers was moist and flavorful and, somewhat unfortunately, there are leftovers in our kitchen! SOMEwhat unfortunate. But not all the way. ;) (Delicious!) The conversation was pretty fun as well. Heh.

Considering my fascination with Youtube music vidoes, you know there's no way I'm leaving you without a song so here's the theme of the week which my friend Sky pointed out to me (and it's been stuck in my head) - which is probably what makes it my theme. It just keeps replaying itself in my mind. So now, of course, I feel compelled to stick it in yours.

Wishing you a beautiful, beautiful weekend!

Carrie

What did you think of Alice? We're probably going to wait until DVD to see it, but I've heard very opposing views on it! : )

Sometimes just surviving a week is doing pretty good. :-) We had really nice weather this week, too.

Dates are great! I'd be interested in your thoughts on Alice, as well, though I know we'll wait for the DVD, too.

I have the same opinion of angel food cake. My daughter-in-law served a quick and easy dessert once with angel food cake and strawberry pie filling with whipped topping, and that moistened it nicely.

I would loove to hear what you thought of Alice, I am a Johnny Depp fan just because his ability to change in every role amazes me. i have never been a big Alice fan, the author has always seemed a bit creepy to me. When I saw the previews for the newest movie I thought; "At least it's as creepy looking as I feel the book is!" The old Disney one is sooo much sweeter then the book!

BTW I bought Francesca Battistelli's whole album for my road trip. I listened to quite a few of her sons on youtube and I liked them all.
Have a beautiful-beautiful weekend!

Your little fellow sounds so cute - that's one of the many things I miss about my littles - the funny phrases.

Glad you had some nice weather and were able to get outside to enjoy it.

Yay for date nights!

And now I'm going to listen to your music.

Happy weekend!

I've been curious about the "Alice in Wonderland" movie. They have it in the Surroundvision theatre here. As usual, your song this week is great.

I'll share about Alice in Wonderland next week for the curious. One of our weekend plans involve watching the Disney cartoon version - which, so far, I'm the only one in my immediate family who has seen it!

There is a lot to be said about eating a meal that is still warm/cool as it should be AND you don't have to fend anyone else!! Hubby and I went out for lunch last Saturday. Lots of fun! :)

"Oh that's sad" and oh so cute. Glad you were able to have a date and eat on your own. You probably even finished 5 sentences in a row without being interrupted!! That's too funny about your attempt to play soccer. Don't give up just wait a couple years :0)

Date nights are the best, and they're so important. The movie doesn't really matter -- it's the time together and alone that makes the difference.

"Oh, that's sad" was so sweet!

Happy weekend!

Yes! It's always good to survive another week. Glad you've made it through. That #4 is really cute - esp your photo of the two hanging out together.

I definitely could have put surviving the week on my list! It was just one of those and I'm glad it's the weekend.

Sweet that your little guy found a new friend.

Yay for date nights. I always like those. :v)

“We survived it”—yes, always a great fave. I’ve loved the beautiful weather, too. Date night? Good for you. My husband and I are overdue. The kids look so cute together. I love Francesca’s songs. That’s a good one. Enjoy your weekend.

Yes, just making it to the end of the week smiling, upright and taking nourishment is a fave.

Your little guy is going to be reading in no time!

Have a beautiful weekend yourself~

"Beautiful, Beautiful" is one my favorite songs at the moment!!!

Oh, and great post on the Jennifer Knapp deal. I will admit to being stunned myself because I love (love!) her music.
