I really like this one by Josh Wilson called, "I Refuse." (Which sounds intriguing just right there, doesn't it?) It's primary focus is in talking about how to help the poor and the needy around us but I hear it to also be saying, "What God has called me to, I will do. I will not walk away from His plans for me." Here 'tis:
Sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself.
Oh, I could choose
Not to move but I refuse.
I think we as Christians (and humans!!) are very frequently tempted to think that other people will fill in obvious gaps - from calling someone up on the phone to see how they are doing, to bringing a meal to a family who is having a rough week for whatever reason or any other number of little things.
I like this song because it reminds me that I can't just sit around making excuses all my life, hoping that someone else will help to carry burdens. No, when a friend is in need - make that meal! Drive it over! Make that call. Call out that injustice on behalf of the oppressed! Run that errand! Again, I know that Josh Wilson is talking more about "the big picture" in this song but I think we give in and refuse to do the "little" things just as easily.
It's time for me to follow through
So, thumbs up on this one.
And this one is a little bit older (I have no idea when it first came out) but I hear it getting a lot of air time on our local Christian music station as well as KLOVE so I'll give it a mention.
"To God Alone" by Aaron Shust (Self explanatory as to why I would like it, I think.)
Until I'm running after Your heart
I'm needing to let go
To God alone be the glory
To God alone be the praise
Everything I say and do
Let it be all for You
The glory is Yours alone - Yours alone
And then just because I like it . . . a song which receives no airtime whatsoever although it should: "Psalm 62" performed by Aaron Keyes. (Again, you just have to ignore the hair.)
A fortress strong against my foes, And I will not be shaken.
Though lips may bless and hearts may curse, And lies like arrows pierce me,
I’ll fix my heart on righteousness, I’ll look to Him who hears me.
O praise Him, hallelujah, My Delight and my Reward;
Everlasting, never failing, My Redeemer, my God.
In the midst of the chaos going on all around us - blessings to you this weekend, my friends!

Chaos indeed... Thanks for responding with a blessing.
Thanks for posting this. It is nice to remember that even in times such as these, that God is still in control, and has given each of us the ability to help and encourage others in need.
I see you signed up for the swap! I must say..I was hoping they would pair us up again!
Hope you're doing well..it won't be long now until your new wee babe will be here in your arms!
