L.M. Montgomery Reading Challenge 2013

L. M. Montgomery Reading Challenge

It's time! It's time! (Happy dance!) Welcome to the FOURTH annual L.M. Montgomery Reading Challenge! (I have to use lots of exclamation points, see? I think LMM would approve. !)

As I've mentioned before, I like kicking the year off with one of my favorite, imaginative authors - L.M. Montgomery. Her works are cozy reads for me and a relaxing way to ease into the next reading year. It is a delight to revisit her works. But perhaps it is your first time? Please, join the party!

As for which titles you choose to read this month, that is totally up to you. You are welcome to read as many of her books - or as few - as you would like. This challenge will run the entire month, wrapping up on Thursday, January 31st.

Today, at the start of the challenge, I invite you to leave a comment in the comment section saying that you intend to participate in the challenge. I also would encouraged you to write up a post on your own blogs stating the following:

a.) You intend to participate.
b.) Listing which of her books you intend to read (or which movies you intend to watch.) Audio books do count, yes.

You can also add a button to your blog sidebar linking back to this post, using the following code:

One of the things I like about Montgomery's books is that they are full of small towns and relationships. Therefore I really like it when participants take the time to hop around and see what others are reading - and why. Converse with one another! Touch base from time to time and perhaps you may discover a few new things about Montgomery or some of her characters along the way.

With that all explained, here is what I hope to read during the month of January:

Beyond that - we'll just see. These are my goals.

Now I'm curious to hear what yours are! As my youngest likes to yell:

"Ready! Set! GO!"

*****

One additional note: this challenge is running alongside the Reading to Know Book Club for the month of January. This month we're focusing on children's classics and you are invited to read any L.M. Montgomery title of your choosing. Either which challenge you are participating in, I'm just trying to get you with one title. ;)

How exciting. I love L M Montgomery's books. I didn't discover them until adulthood, but they have blessed me so much. I am grateful that the Lord gives us these riches --all part of the "abundant life" He promises. I will look today at my stack and think about with which I shall begin!

I am definitely in for both challenges. I just finished the Anne books last year and wanted to move on to some of her other books that I haven't read yet, probably the Emily ones but I am also tempted by Jane of Lantern Hill and Marigold. I'll write up a post one day this week.

Oh, if I don't have Mistress Pat and have never read it, do you think I can read Pat of Silver Bush since I won it last year?

I'm looking forward to participating in the challenge! This is my first time to join in, but I'm excited! I'll be posting about it on my blog soon.

I'm joining this year! I'm planning on reading the first two Anne books. I already have the first one checked out from the library and will get the second one next time I visit (Thursday?). I also put the movie on hold but I'm not sure I'll get it before the end of the month. Unfortunately, I'm hold number 78 with only 9 copies! I probably won't get it until March. :(

I've never been a fan of LMM, but I decided to participate in the book club this year. So I'm reading "Kilmeny of the Orchard" for my LMM book.

We are currently reading Anne of the Island to our daughter. I just found the rest of the series at my library book sale for 25 cents each. Yippee! Also, my daughter received seasons 1 and 2 DVDs of Emily of New Moon for Christmas. I imagine I will be watching some of them during Jan.
Do you still have the AofGG board book that I found for you?

@Angie- Yes you BET I do!!!! My daughter is 1 1/2 right now. I'm not letting her set eyes nor fingers on it for a few years yet but I've got them! And I'm holding on to it! Yes, yes, yes. :D Cool find! That's amazing!

Annette! I haven't gone back to look at which titles I gave away last year but I've been picking up new titles. Yes, read Pat of Silver Bush. Because this year I'm giving away a copy of Mistress Pat. ;D

Oh, fun. I know where my Anne books are (unlike last year) and plan to read them for this challenge. Not sure how many I will finish.

I am tempted to do both challenges. I will see how life is come February.

Thanks for doing this again. It is a fun way to stay reading motivated.

Yay! I love this challenge. : )

I wrote a post (or put it in my December-bookish post) but never had a chance to come link up. Aiming to read Jane of Lantern Hill with the girls and for me, at least Rilla of Ingleside.

I'm not officially doing this challenge but since I'm reading The Blue Castle for the Classic Book Club, I'll comment anyway. I'm a quarter of the way in, and loving the book so far.
